A Welcome to Legs
“The world breaks every one, and afterward, many are strong at the broken places.”
-Ernest Hemingway, A Farewell to Arms
My name is Elle, and I’m a highschool senior currently reading A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway. I’m not a big reader by any sense, however I am a huge romantic. Don’t believe me? Well, I’m almost embarrassed to say that my favorite piece of literature is Romeo and Juliet, and Love Actually is my favorite Christmas movie. My novel being a classic romance is just about the only thing making me excited for this project. I am willing to dive into the intimidating commitment of creating my own blog, so long as I get to be inspired by a beautiful love story narrated by one of the most respected authors of the 20th century. The northern Italian setting and the conflicts of war only add to the intruige of this novel.
The purpose of this blog is to allow me to explore literary criticism and to develop a deeper understanding of it. My goal by the end of this assignment is to be able to utilize literary criticism to analyze my novel. I’m concerned about my ability to go deep into the themes of my novel, and am scared my analysis will be surface level.
